Time Perspective Inventory

How do you perceive and interact with time?

The Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory (ZTPI) assesses how you view and relate to the past, present, and future across five perspectives:

  • Past-Negative: focus on negative past experiences
  • Present-Hedonistic: seek present pleasures with little concern for future consequences
  • Future: plan for and strive to meet future goals
  • Past-Positive: reflect nostalgically and positively on your past
  • Present-Fatalistic: feel powerless about the future and resigned to fate

Note: This is not a diagnostic tool but helps understand how your time perspective influences decision-making and well-being.

Read each statement and indicate how characteristic it is of you, from Very Untrue to Very True.
